Significance of Knowledge

A human being will definitely reap the fruits of karma irrespective of good or bad, righteous or unrighteous. You might have heard the story of Angulimaal .His acts were prodigiously barbaric. He used to kill people and used to cut their fingers and wear those as a garland. He came across GOD and then transformation took place but he had to face the repercussions for his abominable actions.

Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita stated that even if the most barbaric person if surrenders to Almighty , that very moment, he turns into a hermit but the condition would be to completely surrender to Lord Krishna .

In the next verse Lord Krishna says "Announce it with sheer aplomb that my devotee would never get destroyed".

Bad Karmas are executed due to ignorance and lack of devotion . Once a human being gets imbibed in devotional service to GOD then the light of knowledge gets illuminated inside the human being exterminating the darkness of ignorance.

The reversal that you have mentioned in the title is transformation from an ignorant to a knowledgeable being. Performing wise actions would be possible in the wake of attainment of pure knowledge, the spiritual transcendental knowledge. With every righteous karma accompanied with knowledge , the bad actions would gradually get obliterated. Once the residue of bad karma is wiped out then the final product would be a pure, Godly being .

One more aspect to it. An ignorant committing a misdeed could be absolved but if a person commits a gruesome act even after attaining the sacrosanct spiritual knowledge of the affinity between You(the soul) and the Almighty then it would not be a mistake but a horrendous sin. So devotion towards God leads to knowledge and knowledge becomes the instrument to rectify and reverse the Karmic results.
